Full review
Swapter is a Kyiv-based instant cryptocurrency exchange launched in 2022 that lets users swap between 1,200+ digital assets across 450+ blockchain networks without registration. It belongs to the same family as ChangeNOW and SimpleSwap: no account, paste a destination address, send the source coin, receive the target coin minutes later. Liquidity comes from third-party providers rather than an internal order book, which explains the unusual asset coverage — and why pricing depends on whichever liquidity partner offers the route at swap time.
How it works
Pick the source and destination cryptocurrencies, enter a destination wallet address, and Swapter shows the expected receive amount with the spread baked in (no separate fee line). Once the source asset reaches the Swapter-controlled deposit address, the platform routes the swap through its liquidity partners and forwards the proceeds. Bitcoin swaps typically settle in 10–60 minutes, Ethereum in 2–15, and faster chains (BSC, Polygon, Solana) in 1–5. An optional email field exists for status notifications but is not enforced.
KYC & privacy
The default flow collects no identity data — only the destination address. However, Swapter operates a risk-scoring engine that can flag any transaction as suspicious and freeze it pending KYC. When triggered, the user must submit full name, date of birth, residential address, and a government-issued photo ID, processed by Sum & Substance Ltd against international sanction lists. There is no published threshold: the trigger is opaque and behavioral, not amount-based, which makes the privacy guarantee conditional rather than architectural. Multiple users on Trustpilot and Reddit have reported funds frozen for weeks while the platform requested ID and source-of-funds documentation.
Strengths and limits
The breadth of assets is genuinely useful: 1,200+ coins across 450+ networks covers obscure tokens that no major exchange lists. The interface is clean, no email or signup is needed for unflagged swaps, and pricing is transparent up-front. The platform has been operating since 2022 without a public hack, and integrates with many wallets via its Wallet Program. The downside is the discretionary freeze: because the risk score is opaque, users can lose access to funds mid-swap with no visibility into the criteria, and refunds (when offered) carry network-cost fees that can be substantial. The platform is closed-source, has not published a security audit or proof-of-reserves, and does not advertise a Tor mirror. Compared to truly trustless alternatives like Bisq or atomic-swap services, Swapter trades architectural privacy for convenience and asset coverage.
Verdict
A useful instant-swap aggregator with broad coin coverage and a frictionless default flow, but the privacy promise is conditional. Scored 5.6/10 at KYC level discreet — fine for routine, low-friction swaps, less suitable when freeze risk would be unacceptable.
